Garden office electrical installation in Horsham

The job

A homeowner in Horsham was having a garden office built and needed an electrical contractor to work alongside the outbuilding manufacturer. They found us through a recommendation and wanted the office wired for power, lighting and a reliable hardwired internet connection, all supplied safely from the main house rather than relying on temporary leads or wireless alone.

What we did

To keep things simple for the customer, we took over communication with the outbuilding manufacturer so they were not left as the go-between. We then handled the full first and second fix ourselves. A 50m run of 3-core 6mm SWA armoured cable was taken from the existing house consumer unit out to a new submain board in the office, giving the building its own properly protected supply. From there we fitted multiple double sockets, LED spotlighting and a hardwired internet connection with a secondary router. The board is a CHINT submain unit and the sockets and switches are Click faceplates throughout.

Challenges

The way the manufacturer originally wanted the electrics done did not sit right with us, so we took full control of the first and second fix to make sure the installation was safe, correct and to standard rather than a compromise.

The result

The finished garden office in Horsham has power, lighting and hardwired internet ready to use, all fed cleanly from the house. The customer was able to keep working throughout with no disruption, was pleased with how we managed the job alongside the builder, and has already asked us to quote for further work at the property. The installation took the best part of a day.
